What it is
Wearable data literacy is knowing what your device measures well, what it estimates, and what it invents — and using trends instead of obsessing over single readings.
What is currently understood
Resting heart rate, sleep duration and activity trends are measured reasonably well by modern devices. Used as trends, they reliably surface illness, overtraining and recovery debt.
What is not established
Sleep staging, calorie burn and readiness scores are estimates with meaningful error bars. Device scores are not clinical measurements, and treating them as such leads to bad decisions.
Regulatory status
Not applicable — this is a lifestyle and behaviour topic, not a regulated product.
How it comes up in coaching
Your wearable is the continuous thread of the coaching practice. We teach you to read your own trend lines, so the numbers inform decisions instead of driving anxiety. Nothing here is a recommendation.
This page is educational. It is not medical advice, not a recommendation, and not an offer to supply anything. Whether any intervention is appropriate for you is a decision for a licensed provider.
