TB-500

What it is

TB-500 is a synthetic fragment based on thymosin beta-4, a naturally occurring protein involved in cell migration and repair. It is discussed in recovery and mobility contexts. The human evidence base is minimal.

What is currently understood

Thymosin beta-4 itself has been studied in limited human contexts, mainly wound healing and cardiac research. The fragment sold as TB-500 has been examined mostly in animal models of tissue repair.

What is not established

Safety and efficacy of TB-500 in humans are unestablished. There are no adequate human trials, and long-term effects are unknown.

Regulatory status

Not approved by the FDA for any use and not an approved bulk drug substance for compounding in the United States.

How it comes up in coaching

Clients usually raise it alongside training injuries. The coaching work is on training load, sleep and recovery fundamentals, and on directing clinical questions to a licensed provider. Nothing here is a recommendation.
