What it is
NAD+ is a coenzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism, present in every cell. Levels decline with age, which is why it attracts longevity interest. It is sold orally as a supplement and administered by injection or IV in clinic settings.
What is currently understood
Oral precursors such as NR and NMN have human trial data showing they raise NAD+ levels in blood. That a rise in blood markers translates into meaningful health outcomes is a separate, unresolved question.
What is not established
Clinical benefits of raising NAD+ in humans — for ageing, energy or cognition — are not established. Human evidence for injectable and IV NAD+ is thin, and long-term safety data are lacking.
Regulatory status
Sold as a dietary supplement in oral form. Injectable and intravenous NAD+ is not an FDA-approved drug product.
How it comes up in coaching
It comes up when clients want a single molecule to fix energy. The coaching work is on the unglamorous drivers of energy first — sleep, training, nutrition — and on routing clinical questions to a licensed provider. Nothing here is a recommendation.
This page is educational. It is not medical advice, not a recommendation, and not an offer to supply anything. Whether any intervention is appropriate for you is a decision for a licensed provider.
